Cafe Theatre specializes in producing the ten-minute play in intimate theatrical settings.  The artificial walls that separate actor from audience have been broken down.  The whole room becomes our stage.  Imagine sitting at a table, enjoying your beverage and dessert,  reading your program and waiting for the show to begin.  The couple at the table next to you starts having an argument.  Then you realize--it's  "Jason and Medea at the Therapist."  It's the first play of the show.  10 minutes later, in another part of the room, the next play begins.  It's 360 degrees of theatre!

The plays produced by Cafe Theatre are fully realized and produced stage works.  We are a growing ensemble of actors, writers and directors.  In the Summer of 2002, we inaugurated our first Festival of Short Plays at the George Street Playhouse.   By removing the traditional theatrical conventions, Cafe Theatre provides a more immediate theatrical experience.  Our plays are written by some of the best writers currently being produced in New York, New Jersey, and around the world.  Many writers have granted Cafe Theatre permission to premier their plays and are personally involved in our shows.  Cafe Theatre actors are working professionals.  Our directors bring their experience from stages throughout the metropolitan area.
